THE ACCELERATION METHOD OF DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSVERSAL COMPETENCES IN THE STUDENTS’ PRACTICAL TRAINING PROCESS

The Project The acceleration method of development of transversal competences in the studentsÔÇÖ practical training process was started on the 1st October, 2015, and it`s going to be to the 31st August, 2018. The project is conducted under Erasmus+ Programme.

The objective of our activities

The objective of our project is to develop and implement an innovative method of accelerating the development of transversal competences of students by improving the use of practical training.

What are transversal competences?

Such competences are defined as a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to situations necessary to meet social aims. They offer added value in relation to employment, social cohesion (European pact for youth), which explains the significance of lifelong learning as regards adaptability to change and social inclusion. These competences were recognized as being important because of their transversal character.

We chose the following transversal skills for the project: entrepreneurship, creativity, communicativeness and teamwork.

Why do we want to work out the objective of the project?

Our activities are the direct answer`s for changes which are taking place on labour market e.g. popularization of teamwork, teleworking, the work in multicultural environments causes, that increasing emphasis is placed not only on high level of professional knowledge of a particular field, but also on the practice and the transversal competences.

The problems with the transversal competences

Besides poor practical skills, insufficient transversal competences are the one of the most frequently cause related to maladjustment of young employees to work in an enterprise listed by the employers. (zob. M. Szafra┼äski, Zarz─ůdzanie akceleracj─ů tworzenia zasob├│w wiedzy w przedsi─Öbiorstwach, Wydawnictwo Politechniki Pozna┼äskiej, Pozna┼ä 2015; Szafra┼äski M., Goli┼äski M., System for Professionals ÔÇô Monitoring Employers` Demands for Key Competences in Wielkopolska, in: Recent Advances in Computer Science; Procedings of the 19th International Conference on Computers; 19th International Conference on Circuits, Systems, Communications and Computers, Zakhyntos, Greece 2015, s. 184-191). The project responds to the needs of the labour market connected with better improvement of gain the transversal skill among the university graduates.

 The international cooperation

Many studies have shown that the deficiency of transversal skills among university graduates were recorded all over the world (m.in. David Finegold and Alexis Spencer Notabartolo, 21st-Century Competencies and Their Impact: An Interdisciplinary Literature Review┬á; ÔÇ×Talent shortageÔÇŁ, report of ManpowerGroup, 2014┬á; Young Employment System for Mobility in Europe, Skills required for entering the labour market, European Commission, Yesme, Stycze┼ä 2012). Therefore, the project is implemented in international cooperation ÔÇô eight institutions from four different European countries. The Poznan University of Technology is the coordinator of the project (Poland). Partners in the project are: Centria University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Matej Bel University Banska Bystrica (Slovakia), Czestochowa University of Technology (Poland), University of Maribor ÔÇô Faculty of Economics and Business (Slovenia), Wroclaw University of Economics (Poland), and institutions directly connected with the labour market: The Federation of Education in Jokilaaksot – JEDU (Finland) ÔÇô education`s federation and The Western Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Poland, Gorz├│w Wielkopolski) ÔÇô chamber of industry. Through the international`s cooperation, which was initiated under the project, will be possible the broader scope of resultsÔÇÖ impact generated in the project.
